1.Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect information such as your email address, phone number, and authentication credentials (stored in hashed form where applicable). You may optionally provide a display name and profile photo.

Location Information

Yamado is a location-based service. We collect precise location data (latitude and longitude) when you use the Service. With your permission, we may also collect location in the background to power proximity-based features. See Section 3 for details.

User Content

We collect content you submit through the Service, including text, photos, and any associated metadata (such as the location at which content was submitted).

Payment Information

If you make or receive payments through the Service, payments are processed by our payment provider. We do not store your full credit or debit card number. We may store a record of the transaction (amount, date, counterparty) for tax, dispute, and service-history purposes.

Device and Usage Information

We automatically collect technical information including device type, operating system version, application version, IP address, language, time zone, and crash logs. We may also collect a push notification token to deliver notifications to your device.

Camera and Photo Library

With your permission, the Service may access your camera and photo library so you can attach images to content you submit. We only access these on your device when you actively choose to use the relevant feature.

2.How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

3.Location Data

Because the Service is location-based, we ask for permission to access your device's location. You can grant location access in one of three ways:

You can change your choice at any time in your device's settings. We use location data solely to provide the Service. We do not sell your location data, and we do not share precise location data with advertisers or data brokers.

4.How We Share Information

We share information in limited circumstances:

We do not sell your personal information.

5.Third-Party Services

The Service relies on the following categories of third-party providers. Their use of your information is governed by their own privacy policies:

Device identifiers. Some of these providers collect device or installation identifiers to function. In particular, Stripe collects device information and identifiers for fraud prevention, security, and to process payments, and Google services (the Google Maps SDK and Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications) may collect device or installation identifiers as part of providing maps and notification delivery. This information is transmitted securely (encrypted in transit) and is used only to operate, secure, and provide core features of the Service.

6.Your Choices & Controls

7.Data Retention & Deletion

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Aggregated or de-identified data may be retained for longer.

You can permanently delete your account at any time directly in the app: go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account. If you cannot access the app, email info@yamado.co from the phone number or email on your account and we will delete your account within 30 days. For full step-by-step instructions, see our Delete Your Account page.

When you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile and login credentials (phone number, handle), your questions, Updates, answers and replies, your attached photos, your location history and place subscriptions, and your follows and notification preferences. Payment and transaction records are retained where required by law (for example, for tax and accounting purposes); these are held by us and by our payment processor (Stripe) and are not linked to an active profile after deletion.

8.Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, including encryption in transit (TLS), hashed credentials, restricted access to production systems, and routine monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9.Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

10.International Transfers

Yamado is headquartered in Canada, and our service providers may be located in Canada, the United States, the European Union, and other countries. When we transfer your information across borders, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms to protect it, such as standard contractual clauses.

11.Regional Privacy Rights

Residents of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the right under the GDPR to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. The legal bases on which we process your data include performance of a contract (to provide the Service), legitimate interests (security, service improvement, and analytics), legal obligation, and your consent (for location and notifications). You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

12.Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date at the top of this page. If the changes are material, we will provide additional notice (for example, an in-app message or email). Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
